You know you are having a REALLY bad week when...

You go through a half of a 1.75 liter jug of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum
in 3 nights... *sigh*

Words suck...

I received the following in an email this morning:

the change goes in affect tomorrow...We'll have to wait and see what comes first then

It did not look right to me so I checked the online dictionary for the meaning of affected and effected. For some reason I could not pick up the difference even with the help of the following:

Usage Note: Affect and effect have no senses in common. As a verb affect is most
commonly used in the sense of "to influence" (how smoking affects health). Effect means "to bring about or execute": layoffs designed to effect savings. Thus the sentence These measures may affect savings could imply that the measures may reduce savings that have already been realized, whereas These measures may effect savings implies that the measures will cause new savings to come about.

Bottom line, Is his usage of the word correct? Hopefully some grammatical wizard will stumble upon my blog to set me straight. I suppose while the wizard is here reading, I should ask him the proper usage of 'myself' too. It just never seems right at the end of a sentence, I just use 'me' But so many people use 'myself' in that context, It makes you wonder...

Weather & Boobs...

Well, It looks like summer is finally here; unfortunately it came with the humidity on day one. Every year I look forward to that first day where I walk out of the house at 6:30a for work and it just ‘feels’ perfect. Not too hot, no chill in the air, not to much humidity, but ‘just right’ Roll all the windows down, open the moon roof, and head to work! This year I set out to find out what that ‘perfect’ temperature was. Easy enough right? Wait for that day, look at the thermometer. Done. Well not exactly, Stinking humidity makes days of equal temperature ‘feel’ different. The best I could come up with it 69 degrees and less the 50% humidity is ‘perfect’. Oddly enough, my quest for finding out what is ‘perfect’ does not end there. This time, perfect boobs, and the research will be infinitely more gratifying. I took the opportunity this passed Friday night at the local strip club to satisfy my thirst for knowledge (among other things). Halfway through the night, and about 6 dances in, I came to realization that this quest for perfection is equally as complex as the weather. B, C, D, DD... Then, 34, 36, 38... real or plastic... I can’t keep it all straight. Little more of one, less on the other... (It’s a good thing this evening is being classified as a “business expense” or it would get too expensive.) Haha. Anyhow, after a few discussions and a lot of groping, I came to the conclusion that as long as a) they are real. & b) there in my face. There are really no bad boobs. (I would hate to discriminate) I know, I know that does not really satisfy my objective of finding perfection. So – My official winner is: 34C. I may need to go back in the near future just to be sure though. The things I do in the name of research.. ;)

Email Blogging, here goes nothing...

Let's see - I suppose it would make sense if I actually saw if this worked before I wrote anything important. On second thought, I don't think I have written anything important to date, so if it does not post. No great loss...  :)

Lyrics of the week...

DIXIE CHICKS - There's Your Trouble

Should Have Been Different But
It Wasn't Different, Was
Same Old Story, Dear John, And So Long
Should Have Fit Like A Glove
Should Have Fit Like A Ring
Like A Diamond Ring
A Token Of True Love
Should Have All Worked Out
But It Didn't
She Should Be Here Now
But She Isn't

[Chorus:]
There's Your Trouble, There's Your Trouble
You Keep Seeing Double With The Wrong One
You Can't See I Love You, You Can't See Doesn't
But You Just Keep Holding On
There's Your Trouble

Well, that's only the first verse, "my story" so to speak, But I encourage you to click the "read more" link the second verse *may* have meaning for you...

So Now You're Thinking 'Bout
All You're Missing -- How
Deep You're Sinking, Round And Round And Dragging Down
Why Don't You Cash In Your Chips
Why Don't You Call It A Loss
Not Such A Big Loss, Chalk It Up Better Luck
Could Have Been True Love
But It Wasn't
It Should All Add Up
But It Doesn't

[Chorus:]
There's Your Trouble, There's Your Trouble
You Keep Seeing Double With The Wrong One
You Can't See I Love You, You Can't See Doesn't
But You Just Keep Holding On
There's Your Trouble
