peperoni pizza???

Here is an interesting tidbit of information I learned during my vacation in Italy. Pepperoni as we know it in the states - non esiste! That's right, there is no such thing! American Pepperoni to the Italians is nothing more than one of the many varieties of salami. So, you're thinking - Nothing called pepperoni, no big deal. Well you're half right. I went into a pizzeria while in Italy and oddly enough, guess what I saw? - You guessed it - a pizza with peperoni on the menu! Peperoni in Italian means "pepper" (as in the vegetable) I imagine more than one tourist received quite a shock when their peperoni pizza was delivered to their table!
